Flight.
Did you know a group of crows is called a murder
The first time I seen a murder of crows i stood with my mouth wide open
Watched them take flight across a light post then spread out across a power line
The sun cuts through their ensemble like a classical piano
They say crows never forgets what or who harms them
Will teach each other how to identify assailants
They carry each other’s pain
Birds of revenge
Birds of Prey
Birds of opportunity
Crows are unforgiving
The second time I seen a murder of crows it was right after my friend had died
They got so close i could see their eyes get still
The whirlwind of superstitions became a brick in my throat
Every breath sitting at the root of my mouth
Trapped
For days
I Got a birds eye view of life
Everything fleeting at 15
Everything wrapped around uncertainty
Still taking flight though
Revenge the wind beneath my own wings
I remember pain like a crow
I cage it in my temple
Thats why i get headaches
If i let it out like a flock
I wonder if it would finally erase all the memories
Bring back a few people
You knows crows will have funerals
Truly view themselves as a family
A never ending relentless sense of responsibility on the tip of their existence
Even in death
They carry vigilance in their bodies
Create fortresses around their dead
No one will be left vulnerable
I got a crows heart im learning
Got a crows stare long as every ocean line
The next time i see a murder of crows
I’ll tell them I understand.
